Carter, London

6:10pm, Jan. 31st a young gentleman identified himself as a National rep. The young lad lied stating he was not selling anything but was working for Reliance Home Comfort in the capacity of upgrading hot water tanks in the neighbourhood as part of a government mandate to bring all appliances up to energy efficient standards. These types of tactics need to be stopped.

A man just came to my door and wanted to look at my water heater. He said it should be replaced after 5 years and that Reliance had been bought out by an American Co. and would not replace my rented tank for free. His jacket had Energy Star printed on it. I did not let him in and immediately phoned Reliance. He indicated that I had more than paid for a new tank after 5 years of paying rental fees.

On January 20, at about 8 p.m. a young man identifying himself as a hot water tank rep from National came to our door. My elderly mother spoke to him through a locked screen door. She told him that she had just had her hot water replaced by Reliance in October. He said that was impossible because Reliance does not replace hot water heaters!!!!!!! Even though we did in fact have our water heater replaced in October, we don't owe this guy any explanation and he asked her if he could come in and take a look at it. She said no and shut the door in his face! The nerve of these guys! How do we really know if they are legit and they might not try a home invasion type thing. Why can't anybody do anything about these guys bugging people over and over for nearly 5 years now that I can remember? It is time to put a stop to it! People's safety is at risk, especially the elderly and vulnerable.

Just had a man come to the door at 7:30 PM saying that he is from a company called National that is taking over Reliance Company. He said he had see our water heater to make sure it was Energy Star...why?.... because National Company was taking over Reliance. This was a LIE of course. We just had our water heater replaced by Reliance one year ago so I felt something was fishy. If National was taking over Reliance wouldnt they have my name and the model number and brand of my water heater? He just wanted to snoop. Thankfully I told him we were not needing his inspections and sent him on his way. Be wary of letting ANYONE into your home like this!

I wrote to them at their sales email and told them about my experiences and also provided numerous links to pages where people were complaining (so they couldn't say my situation was unique). After hounding for a response, they wrote saying they're sorry and offered to send me stickers to put up so that I don't get house calls anymore. I said sure, send me a bunch as I know some people who would like them. They're sending me 5. Problem solved, hopefully.
